Answers:
Problem 1: False – there are a number of answers for this, depending on which multiplication table the number appears in. One easy way to prove this is to look at a 3-digit prime number compared to a number such as 32. Therefore this is only sometimes true.
Problem 2: As far as I know this is true – please let me know if you know of a square number where this is not the case!
